Education: Schooling For The Future

For the last quarter century, China has prospered largely because of the size of its workforce. This advantage of raw numbers has about another decade to run; after that the population of working age will begin to decline. When the quantity of the workforce is no longer increasing, economic growth will have to be generated by improvements in quality instead. Improving the quality of human capital is mainly a function of the quality of one’s education system. CEQ examines the impressive strides China’s education system has made over the past two decades, and what it needs to do to meet the challenge of the future.
